God’s Heart for Adoption and Foster Care

Are you interested in learning more about what fostering and adoption might look like? Are there families in your life who are fostering or going through the adoption process, but you have no idea how to support them?  During the last two weeks of October and the first week of November, Redeemer’s deacon team will be engaging your heart with God’s heart for fostering and adoption, and how we can better care for foster and adoptive families in our congregation and in our city.

October 24  //  Family Hope

Family Hope, an Indy non-profit providing supportive relationships for isolated families will show us how to get involved. They offer temporary hosting of children, connections and guidance for parents, and a bridge to family stability.

October 31 // Foster & Adoptive Family Panel

Join us in the gym at 10 am for a panel discussion by foster and adoptive families in our congregation! The families will share how they sensed God calling them to foster or adopt, what they wished they would have known, and ways the community can support them. Come support them by listening to their stories! We will also spend time praying for them at the end of the panel.

November 7  //  MERCY SUNDAY

Join us this Sunday for Mercy Sunday! Our very own Ben Hein will be preaching on Acts 2. The liturgy that morning will also reflect God’s heart for mercy and justice.

For Sunday school, please join us in the gym at 10 am if you are interested in learning more about how you might meet the tangible needs of foster and adoptive families in our congregation.

Foster & Adoptive grants

The Deacon team offers foster and adoptive grants to families who feel called to this but are in need of financial assistance. If you are interested in learning more, please contact the Deacon Team Coordinator at julianne@redeemindy.org. There will also be brochures and Deacon team members available to answer any questions you might have on Sunday.

Mercy Month giving

As a part of Mercy Month each year, the Deacons collect a special offering to be used for mercy and justice needs in the congregation and in the city. One specific way this plays out is the deacon team helping people at Redeemer cover unplanned and uninsured medical expenses, and they have done that in significant ways this year.

All funds given to the Mercy Fund during Mercy Month will be evenly split between the 4:8 Fund and replenishing the Mercy Fund.
